Baltimore's Hard Rock Cafe' & ESPN Zone

This building was built back in the early 1900’s to house Baltimore City’s first electric power plant. It was renovated to make way for Hard Rock Café, ESPN Zone, and other stores. Approximately 80 feet above grade there were recessed areas of wall that the architect thought would make great windows. We were contacted to see if we had a way of cutting the rounded top portion of the windows as well as the sides and bottom of the windows.

We came up with a rather simple solution. The diameter of the arch measured 36”. Therefore, we drilled a 36” diameter core hole at the top, and then finished the cutting of the walls with a hand held diamond cutting chain saw. The other large sections of 17” to 21” thick walls were removed after wall sawing.
